Birth or Prenatal Injuries
Unnecessary harm can happen to the baby or the mother during pregnancy and birth, if the health care providers aren’t careful.
In the baby, the brain can be damaged by infection, bleeding, lack of oxygen and unrecognized fetal distress. And the baby can be lost. The baby’s or mother’s nerves can be damaged, or bones broken. Moms can be injured during birth by infection, bleeding, mistakes in the delivery, and unnecessarily prolonged labor. Coffey and Nichols have helped parents and babies recover for damages that didn’t have to happen.
What to do if You or Your Child are Injured During Pregnancy and Birth
Keep any videos or recordings you may have, anything your medical providers gave you and any record you may have kept of the pregnancy—fetal development and/or the birth itself. Your family may also be important witnesses.
